Berg en Rivier Country Retreat is a unique holiday country retreat, riverside tented camping, 4×4 Trail and event venue nestled in the majestic Trichardspoort River Valley between the unspoilt banks of Wilge River and foothills of the Gouwsberg Mountain Range. We are situated between Cullinan and Loskop Dam, only 40km NE of Witbank and Bronkhorstspruit and one hour from Pretoria East and Benoni.
Please take note that we pride ourselves as a respectable venue that honors our guests who come here for peace, quiet and tranquility – therefore loud music and drinking is restricted. We urge guests to take note and heed to our request.
We offer a variety of accommodation to choose from including Self-Catering Units, a Tented Camp, Riverside Camping and a Lapa / Communal Sleeping Hall.

What do the Main Lodge apartments offer?
Our private garden apartments can accommodate couples, and have additional bunk beds for kids or friends – up to 8 people per garden apartment when used as a communal group venue. Each room is en-suite, fully equipped and has its own kitchenette, stoep, braai facilities and bedding overlooking the Mountain, game camp and Lodge garden.
In addition there is open plan communal area with veranda and lounge/dining/ games room with in-house braai or open outside boma to braai under the sky.
What does the Tented Camp offer?
AFRICAN SAFARI STYLE TENTED CAMP. Our safari tented camp offers you a real African experience with a braai, bedding and shared hot showers. This is situated on the main Berg en Rivier Lodge area. We can also set up a tent camp on the river bank, according to your needs.
What do the Riverside Camping sites offer?
Riverside Camping / Rustic river camp and 4×4 camping. Set up your tent next to the river, or allow us to set up a private safari tent camp for you with 2 man tents. Special allocated sites for 4×4 campers, overlooking the tranquil river and mountain setting in the background.
What does the Lapa / Communal Sleeping Hall offer?

Near the river there is also two halls with communal backpacker type sleeping accommodation. Each hall can accommodate up to 25 people. This also includes communal open plan areas that can be used for dining, braai’s, parties and lectures or team building.

FROM PRETORIA EAST - DISTANCE 80KM.
From Pretoria drive on the N4 toward Witbank/ eMalahleni. Take the R25 “Bronkhorstspruit-East-Groblersdal- Delmas” offramp (second Bronkhorstpruit offramp). Turn left and travel 24 km on the R25 direction Groblersdal. Turn right at the Zusterstroom road and travel for 15km until you cross over the Wilgeriver bridge, from there travel another 3 km. Look out for the Berg en Rivier signs and turn right at C12 Entrance.
FROM BENONI - DISTANCE 85KM.
Drive on the N12 towards Witbank/eMalahleni. Turn left onto R42, this is the Bronkhorstspuit Delmas offramp. Continue to a T-junction. At the T-juncton , turn right into the R25. Travel on the R25 direction Groblersdal for 24 km
Turn right at the Zusterstroom Road and travel for 15km until you cross over the Wilgeriver bridge, from here travel another 3 km. Look out for the Berg en Rivier signs. Turn right at C12 Entrance.
FROM WITBANK – DISTANCE 45KM.
Take the R544 near the old Witbank Train station. Travel for 3km and keep left where the road splits (NB!). Continue for 40km down the escarpment. Take the Zusterstroom turnoff left (NB! – before the Wilgeriver Bridge). Travel for 6km.
Look out for the Berg en Rivier signs and turn left at C12 Entrance.
