Kamp Schelmhoek in Frieden is situated in the heart of the Moordenaars Karoo, just 42km from the little town, Laingsburg. The owners will welcome you to their spacious self-catering tents that sleeps 4-5 guests and the caravan that sleeps 2 guests. There is also a camping ground for caravans and tents as well as wild camping. This campsite is off-the grid and offers magnificent stargazing at night and you are welcome to explore the nearby attractions like the Laingsburg Flood Museum. Activities include a 4×4 track, hiking, biking, quad biking, swimming, dirt biking and more. Come join us for a camping experience compared to none. Also remember that we are pet-friendly, so your dog is welcome to come camp with you. You take full responsibility for your pet.

What is your dog policy?
Once-off fee payable for your dog (please inform the owner of your doggy is coming with please). Pick up after your dog. Aggressive dogs are not allowed. Honor the leash law - don't let your dog wander on it's own around the property.

Yes, we offer long term camping for pensioners. For hassle-free camping in a rugged setting, our campsite remains one of the best spots in the Karoo for a long-term stay to relax from the busy lifestyle of the city.

What are the names of the 4 camping sites and how many campers per site?
The campsites are named Kudu, Klipspringer, Erdvark and Meerkatgat. 8-12 Campers per site. No electricity and no cellphone reception.
How many guests can sleep in the Skilpad caravan?
The Skilpad caravan sleeps 2 guests. Bedding is provided.
How many guests do the selfcatering tents sleep?
The selfcatering tent s are named Mossie, Bosduif and Koggelmander. They sleep 4-5 guests. Bedding provided.
