Grootwaterval Guest Farm, your perfect Karoo getaway located in the semi-arid Central Karoo, just 45km away from the charming village of Prince Albert in the Western Cape. Our farm is an established sheep farm that has been in our family for generations, and we’re excited to welcome you to our beautiful corner of the Karoo.
Grootwaterval Guest Farm offers a range of accommodation options to suit different tastes and budgets. Accommodation designed to provide a comfortable and relaxing stay in the beautiful Karoo region. The road to Grootwaterval is a gravel road. You would be advised to come in a car with high clearance. If your vehicle can’t manage the gravel road, we’ll arrange secure parking. We will collect you in our vehicle and drive you to and from the farm.
Experience the vastness and calm of the Karoo and take in the breathtaking views that surround us. At night, be amazed by the wonders of the clear night sky and the peaceful sounds of nature. Keep your eyes peeled for the local wildlife, including steenbok and tortoises.

What does the Kalkfontein Cottage offer?
This cottage is furnished with a double bed and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, stove as well as tea-and-coffee-making facilities. 1 Bedroom and 1 bathroom. Sleeps 2 people. Dog friendly.
What does the Ribbok Cottage offer?
Ribbok Cottage can accommodate up to 5 guests and comprises an open plan kitchen with an old but working wood stove, a small living room with a sleeper couch, 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds, each with en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. On the patio, guests have braai facilities and old acacia trees give guests shade from the summer heat. Sleeps 5 people. Dog friendly.
What does the Gemsbok Cottage offer?
The Gemsbok Cottage can accommodate up to 6 guests at a time and comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double and the second with 2 single beds. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. It has a drawer couch with a pull-out bed in the living room and a fully equipped, open plan kitchen. The spacious, covered patio has an outdoor braai that overlooks the small succulent garden. The cottage is fitted with solar panels for lighting and refrigeration and has a gas stove and geysers. Oil lamps are also supplied for those romantic evenings. There is covered parking next to the house. There is a hot tub available on request at an extra cost. Dog friendly.
What does the Grootwaterval Lodge offer?
The Grootwaterval Lodge is perfect for a group of friends or a family. The spacious house, which is 7 km from the farmhouse, has no electricity but makes use of oil lamps for light. In the main building, there is an open kitchen with everything guests will need including a gas fridge-freezer, gas-burner and an Aga stove. On cold winter nights, guests can enjoy the cosy indoor fireplace in the living room. There are 4 bedrooms and can accommodate 8 guests at a time. Of the bedrooms, 2 have double beds, 2 have 2 single beds, all with en-suite bathrooms. Each room can be accessed via the patio with an outdoor fireplace where guests can enjoy a sundowner. There is a separate dormitory which can accommodate 4 more guests on bunk beds. Sleeps up to 12 people. Dog friendly.

The Honeymoon Suite accommodates 2 guests and is furnished with a double bed and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. The unit has an outdoor seating area with a braai and also features tea- and coffee-making facilities.
