Monks Caravan Park offers lovely campsites where you can camp with either caravan, tent or camping trailer. We are approximately 1km from the centre of town on the Port Elizabeth side of Knysna. Knysna nestles on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route of South Africa. It is surrounded by a natural paradise of lush indigenous forests, tranquil lakes and golden beaches, making it a real natural wonderland.

What do the self catering caravans offer?
Each caravan is self contained with fridge, gas stove, cutlery and kitchen utensils. Both ablution blocks serve caravanners, although some caravans do have their own private bathroom and toilet. Guests are reminded to supply their own bedding and towels.
What do the selfcatering units offer at The Monks?
The chalets are self-contained with a separate bathroom, toilet and kitchenette. Each is equipped for 5 or more people with cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils, gas stove, fridge, kettle, TV, toaster and bedding. The large chalets have three separate bedrooms with the same equipment and facilities. Linen is provided but guests are reminded to bring their own towels.

Camp sites are green grass and swimming pool is clean. Close to the lagoon and local people walking past the gate and begging for something. The bathrooms can definitely use a makeover, and taking a shower is an annoying experience . Gas showers, so it is either warm, cold, or no water. Stayed 1 night over. The place is clean and feels save. For a low budget night worth the rest place.

We have been coming to Knysna for 39 years and prefer to come and stay at Monks Caravan Park, whether it is with a motorhome or in a chalet, the best and most peaceful holiday.

It was absolutely amazing. The lady at reception was absolutely incredible, very welcoming and kind. We didn’t have blankets, and they provided us with some duvets that kept us warm throughout our stay. We really enjoyed our stay. The kids had an amazing time.
