Description

Melton Wold is a working sheep- and game farm and offers a complete holiday venue, away from the rush of big city life. Established in 1935, it is the oldest guest farm in South Africa. Accommodation consists of single, double and family rooms and is provided in an enlarged farmhouse, the main part of which dates back to 1889. Most of the rooms have fireplaces. The campsite consists of 10 campsites on lush grass and each stand has its own electricity, water and braai area. The campsites are situated near the main lodge. Melton Wold is truly an oasis in the Karoo. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, then a vacation or stop over at Melton Wold Guest farm is a must. Campers also have access to the main lodge and all the recreational facilities. The farm produces its own livestock, especially Karoo lamb and springbuck, and is the foundation of excellent cuisine. We have an attractive ladies bar, The Dear and Pheasant. Activities on the farm include a playground for children, tennis court, bowling green, swimming pool, walks and cycling, game drives, birding, fossil viewing, visit to the diamond mine and tannery. During the winter family hunts are popular.

I stayed here as a child, and my mother who is now 73, also stayed here as a child. Lots of happy memories, the pool is just the same as I remember. I would love to come back.
